| I have a JD112, cant get the Pics now (not on my property) I am turning into a puller, I need to find a new motor. It has a Deck, front blade, and sleeve hitch. I may be getting a 16or so hp engine and a 3pt for on it, so I can work too! | |

| that jd112 will do fine as a puller my friend had one and it always brought in first or second place as for the motor the 16hp will be good enough but if you can get your hands on a higher hp motor grab it. good luck with the build.

| if you had a choice between a single banger briggs 16 or a twin or opposed head which would be better. I have a 1972 iorn block syncro balenced single clyinder briggs 16 that hauls but on my hydro gilson squire and pulls really high rpms and gets power with them , i dont think an opposed head wold work as well. and with any 2 clyinder engine the amount of compression needs to be the same or risk hurting your engine. is a single as good as a 2 clyinder engine? | |

| i noticed singles tend to bring out more torque than twins twins seem to bring higher rpms for more speed and power if it were my choice i go single higher hp | |

| theirs a decisons you need to make....the torque curve is different on a twin to a single and WAY different on that old single briggs versus todays opposed twins....twins run smoother and can make gobbs more hp and torque over a single or it can be the other way around....If you rebuild the motor so its tight(back to stock tolerances) she will run GREAT....we used to run our 16hp twin onan against a 16hp single kohler and on different days it would win or id win, ALOT of it has to do with the driver, and the setup...you can have the 1# machine in the world and be a rookie driver and NEVER win, or have the worst tractor in the world and be the 1# guy/gal at setting the machine up and driving it, and you can be a winner....So the motor isnt ALWAYS gona make it a winner...i myself would run the twin UNLESS you gotta pull again KOHLER COMMANDS!!!!! if you do then run the single!! A command twin makes GOBS of hp and torque realllly easily!!!! | |
