thats my 2008 troybilt bronco i am going to start working on it next week to turn it into a puller comments and suggestions are welcomed and greatly appreciated

man that will be one good looking stong puller when your done and its like only 2 years old. good luck

you think it will hold up as good as old iron?

i have not personaly ever looked at the frame and mechanics of a troybuit but with plenty of mods and alot of reinforcing and welding it will be a good puller. im not sure about if it will last i dont see very many new tractors pulling usually because of how expensive the are new and to tear one apart and make a puller doesnt cross to many minds. but older is definintely better. depends on the builder. i think it will work

it just seems to me like the hydro would fail..personally, id rather have a manual type transaxle pulling..

the things that can happen to an all geared trans can happen to hydros. hydros just got a hydro pump that drives a hydro motor that is geared down for power. my 72 gilson squire 16 has a hydro and it takes every thing i give it with ease and i got the engine going 7000rpm and an unmodifyed top speed of 15mph. but yours is newer so duribility probable went down with the cost. im saying if you got an opportunity to get an older tractor than jump on it. i dont see many new tractors pulling probably because of value of tractor being expencive and lower duribility of the components its built of.

Rusty is right, But I just dont trust new tractors, but Troy and Deere seem to be the only tractors, that have strong Hydros.. Deere flopped with the manuals... 180s are known to have a weak Trans Axel!

i would personally rather have old iron to pull with for one is i couldnt see ripping apart a new tractor and two the newer tractors dont seem to be built as strong as the older ones. but like rustyrideon68 said it all depends on the builder some people can strenthen up a tractor to be nice and strong and some cant. and like frogbreeder1 said deere and troy built seem to have strong hydros so i dont think you will have a problem with the trans ii think you will mostly have a problem with the strenth of the tractor. good luck with the build and make sure you post some pics of the progress.

my troybilt isnt a hydro it is a automatic but not hydro you still shift between forward neutral and reverse on the fender i have pulled a ford Taurus with it no problam it is strong as hell i also have a 2008 kubota b7800

how is it automatic? is it like the 80s snappers weird speed thing or like a craftsman gtv system with th changing pullys? or a sort of shift on the fly thing?

i was wondering the same thing i know some tractors that have the shifter on the fender and its a transmatic maybe a picture would help us guys figure it out

i got an 07 super bronco....the trans isnt all that strong......it skips in reverse............it took a beating plowing last winter when my 64 magna was down.....

and yes....its got the shive pulleys that spread and shrink.......

i plan on doing alot of work to it i have a rear axle out of a 1972 power king i would like to use when i am done this tractor isnt going to be even close to stock

are you planing to take it to competitions. they might change your class if you mod it to much

that will be a fun project to play with around the yard you might be able to enter it in parades and what not also
